Margaret^8 Jane Van Vickle (Jeptha^7, Absalom^6 Van Vickle, Evert^5 Van Wicklen, Frederick^4,
Evert^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes), b. 1852, Terre Haute, Parke Co., IN (Margaret's father, Jeptha's, parentage has not been determined with certainty;
however, there would appear to be only a few possibilities given that the change to the Van Vickle surname began with Evert^5. Evert^5 had five
sons--Daniel, Evert, Absalom, Enoch and Robert. Daniel had only one son, Daniel^6. Evert^6 married in 1809, four years after Absalom was born.
Enoch and Robert appear to have born too late to have a son born in 1805. This leaves Absalom, born in 1787 and his
wife Elizabeth, born in 1791 as very young but possible parents of Jeptha. It may also be that Evert^5 had other sons who could have fathered Jeptha, and hopefully, subsequent
research will substantiate Jeptha's ancestry.)
Also..consider this research note from Harry Macy, Jr. There is an unidentified male born 1804-10 in the 1820 census of Evert^5 in Ohio.
Evert^6 who went to Illinois may have had more sons. Absalom^6 of Pickaway Co., Ohio had a son 1804-10 not identified. (The wills of Elizabeth (Butler
Co., OH 1822) and Robert (Darke Co., OH 1848) would probably help straighten out some other uncertainties. (submitted by Harry Macy, August

(Is Margaret Jane Van Vickle Long the daughter of Jeptha and Jane Van Vickle? Beth Ann Russell has a copy of Margaret Jane (Van Vickle) Long's marriage and death certificates which show several points of correspondence with this family. A discrepancy is that
Margaret's death certificate lists father as John and mother unknown. However the census data for 1900, 1910, 1920 indicate that Margaret's father was b. in Ohio
and her mother in Virginia which fits nicely here.)

I have a great grandmother Margaret Jane Van Vickle Long who was b. 15 March 1852 in Terre Haute, Indiana -- father's name John Van
Vickle, mother's name Jane according to her death certificate. She married William Noble Long 4 August 1873 in Vigo Co., Indiana. They moved to
Neadesha, KS, then to Joplin, MO. She was said to of had a brother Thomas. Mother born in Virginia. Father b. in Ohio. I see in the Wabash
